Your tire and wheel size do matter in the (Gear Ratio Aspect). You do need to have the right wheel and tire size on both ends of the tractor or you will cause gear binding in your transmission and crow hop on your front end. Most likely you have bought an Ag tractor with Industrial wheels and tires. I have seen several of these machines configured this way. These tractors were sold as a multi-use tractor. Your tires and wheels are similar to a Backhoe. If you want to change, then what you need is Agricultural wheels and tires. I don't know the sizes you need. You need to contact a John Deere Ag dealer and find out the exact sizes for both the front and rear so that you don't get the Drive line Ratio out of sinc. This is not a good thing to have.
