You mentioned that you have abnormal corrosion in the bottom of the battery box. This leads me to suspect battery overcharging. Have you had to add battery fluid more often than what seems normal? The voltage output should be checked with the engine running at full throttle & should read no more than 14 volts. If it does,there are a few things you can do. The best but more expensive way is to replace charging mogule. Another way is to run your lights to absorb the excess amps. I have even added more lights to do the job. Good luck
