John Deere LX 255 no spark

Hi,
My neighbors LX255 will not start. This happened a while ago and we replaced the ignition module (printed circut board) and took care of the problem. Now same thing. Turned the key on and the lights on the board did not light up. Purchased a new board, installed, red & green lights on , turned over motor, won't start. It is getting fuel, air cleaner clean, pulled plug-was gas fouled, put new plug in spark bootheld to ground and no spark. Both indicator lights were on (red and green) oil light went out on dash, so had oil pressure. I am totally frustrated with his mower. I have a 325 and never had an issue with it for several years. Any ideas on why no spark - Or a direction to go? John Deere dealer just kinda scratched his head as well as the mechanic.

My neighbor is totally frustrated and close to purchasing another brand of mower.

So I told him I would try this.
