You have the tall resevoir which is harder to check wether or not it has oil in it. I take the top line off and give it a drink (hyd oil), put the line back on, clear your stuff and start it up and listen. Sometimes they take right off. I've had several just stop, like that, and the drink has "cured" them. I think that would be the next easiest thing to try, even though you do have to remove the hood. John's right though, the drive is the first thing to check. I check the cartridge type valve above the oil filter housing after that.
