I have a SST-16 John Deere lawn tractor with a Briggs and Stratton Vanguard 16hp engine. recently the battery has been going dead after about two hours of tractor operation. After a fresh charge, everything seems OK for another 2 or so hours. Sometimes the battery dies when the tractor sits idle in the shed. I suspect that either the engine is not charging the battery or there is a short circuit. How do I test for either or both ? Any other suggestions are welsome.
