ok, Mr. Personality @ the JD place talked to his mechanic and said that the 'externally vented' carb is obsolete an I'll need to buy an 'internally vented' replacement for $500! I passed and decided to tear the carb apart one more time (4-times total - a little more throurough each time). This time I discovered a blockage in one of the prorts, blew it out with some carb cleaner, then put it back together again. Runs perfect!
