Hi,
I have a John Deere lawn tractor model 180. I have been having problems with it starting and running. So far, i have checked all safety switches, deat, neutral and brake they are fine. I replaced the ignition switch and the PTO switch. And I replaced the 20 amp fuse holder it was melted and contacts were burnt. The battery reading 13.50 volts and it I jump the starter It starts, but cut off after a few minutes? With the new key switch, I cannot get it to turn on the starter motor? I don't know what else to look for? There is a capacitor mounted on the engine, I took it off and I checked it with a ohm meter and it buzzes from the insulated terminal to the case, is this normal? Please can someone help!!! I will have a hay field soon.
Thanks Nick
