Ryan : On those models a brass type bushing is used in the front wheel hub instead of a bearing assembly. On slopes while turning the force is on a small area of the axle spindle and bushing contact area, and also just normal wear. These models I have repaired by re welding the axle with 7018 and then machining it to the original diameter again and installing new wheel bushings. Now on this one I have in my shop today with the exact same failure I found a dealer that has a replacement bearing to go into the wheels and a spindle is around 30 bucks if you buy it new, check both sides they are most likely both in need of repair.
If you are interested call 800-422-5723 and ask for Loren only and speak with him, he will give you the numbers to get the wheels fixed.
I use this dealer cause they have been in business since 1957 and are still into helping John Deere people with the lease expensive repair solution. They are open 7 days a week and you can just mention Dale in Hawaii.
