I do not know the year of my 318, but I purchased 3 years ago. I swapped the engine to a new honda from small engine wharehouse in Indiana in 2008. I reused the existing electric clutch. It has run great ever since. Recently, the electric clutch for the mower will cut out after a little while. Sometimes, it will re-engage and run fine. Other times, it will shut down the motor. I took the clutch apart, made sure it was clean and not visibly broken and re-installed it, making sure it was properly adjusted per the instructions from Small Engine Wharehouse. They say the air gap should be .17. Is that correct? What would cause the clutch to disengage sometimes and run fine othertimes. Is the clutch bad? Should I replace it? Is it the switch? Is it the battery or charging system not providing enough power. Occasionally, while I am running, the battery light will light.
