Cecil : Try running the mower in forward and reverse and make sure the unit is performing as expected. Turn on the mower pto with the engine running and while traveling in forward or reverse. Make sure the blades are running and continue to run. As the blades are running and you are traveling in forward or reverse try to lower the deck and if the deck blades cut off that's one thing and if the blades stop and the unit dies thats another issue.
You indicated when you lower the deck and then engauge the pto the mower itself stalls, it could be shutting off or it could be stalling the engine due to a restriction in rotation of the blades. So do the test and get back to us on the forum. It may be as simple as a seat switch if the unit shuts down.
