I have a JD 2040 w/a loader 2 wheel drive. The problem I have is the PTO lever engagement. When sitting in the tractor seat the lever is lower left slighly to the rear. I think something has come loose internal. The lever just moves back and forth with hardly any resistance, and the PTO will not engage. Any ideas? Do I have to split the tractor? Can it be reached from the top? Any help would be great. My local JD dealer just tells me "I am not sure what it will take, just have to spend $135 per hour until we figure it out"! Any ideas will help -- Thanks!!
