Did you mean that the engine dies when you switch the PTO on? I assume this is what you meant so i'll explain some things to look at.
First, make sure you're engaging the PTO at full throttle. If you are and it still dies, it sounds like something is stuck in the blades or the pulley system or the PTO clutch bearing is seized. First, with the engine off and the PTO disengaged, check to see if you can turn the blades manually. If you can and the blade and pulleys move with ease, turn on the ignition and with the engine still OFF, engage the PTO and try to move the blades again. If this action moves the PTO clutch and starts to rotate the engine, the problem is the engine, lack of compression, lack of power, vacuum lines disconnected etc etc.. could be a plethora of problems.
