Hi Dave - I'm going to jump in on this, not because I want to beat Joe to the punch, but because I'm getting sick of seeing people's posts get stupid responses from someone who seems to think he owns the place.

The fill tube you refer to is hydraulic fill tube. The hydraulic system and the transmission share the same fluid. The sight glass should be at the back of the tractor. Fill until the fluid is about half way up the glass.

When setting deck height, the gage wheels should be a minimum of 1/4" off a hard level surface with the deck fully down. I like to set mine at 3/8" to 1/2" from touching. - Dave
