No guarantee on how long any engine will last, but typically the Onans hold together for around 1500 hours +/- and then throw the right side rod. Some will hit as much as 2500 hours. The 600 hour machine you are looking at is definitely a low hour machine.
You ask what the extra hydraulics will do on the 318? They allow you to use a hydraulically angled plow on the front mostly. Another difference is the 318 has separate foot pedals for each rear brake, the 316 has only one brake pedal for both brakes. I own the olde Kohler powered 316 and an Onan powered 316. They are very capable tractors and can do just about everything the 318 can do but are generally more affordable to buy.
