My MFWD JD750 front diff driveshaft is chewed up to the point where it won't drive the front axles any longer, the ball bearings keep spinning. The local dealer wants way too much $ for a new ring and pinion set (driveshaft is part of pinion). Would it be possible to have a machinist build up the lands by welding, then turn it and remachine the grooves? What would you expect to pay for such a service? Or should I just bite the bullet and get a new set? Anyone have a used set?
