Actually the John Deere is a True Deere. They are made from the same factory in West Virgina as the huge combines, etc. That is a urban legend that uneducated sales associates started. I worked at sears and that is what i told people because that is what i was told. But it is a true Deere. Definitely the LA115 is the way to go. There is a world of difference. Big ones for me is:
1.) the deck the Deere is actually powered coated before painted so it fills in all the small bumps which resists clumping and rusting and it is a true 42" deck not a 42" deck and only 40" blades.
2.) Deere is a fully welded frame no spot welds or bolts like on the Husqvarna.
3.) on the Deere the gas tank is under the seat and not under the hood. This way you do not have to get of the mower to check the gas level, just look between your legs. And with the Deere if you need to add gas to it just pick of the seat and add. Where as with the Husqvarna it is under the hood there fore if you have been mowing the motor is hot and you have to wait around 30 mins to add gas because you can not add gas to a hot motor.
4.) the mower in reverse feature on the Deere is a little mower user friendly hold down the button start going in reverse and let go of the button when you are done you just press forward on the pedal and go. the Husqvarna you have to stop turn the key to the reverse switch position, hoping you don't turn it to far and turn the mower off. go in reverse then when you want to go forward stop turn the key again and then go.
That is my 2cents on the deal
