This 316 that I have was built in '89. I gave JD the model number when I ordered the manual. The manual is supposed to be good for 316, 318 and 420. No real reference to a motor in the manual, as I recall, but the few pictures in it look like the Onan configuration as opposed to any Kohler I've ever seen. I almost bought a 316 with the Kohler configuration but the guy didn't know the year of it and it had around 2500 hrs on it. And being new to JD, didn't know what was what on these machines....still learning, for that matter. Anyway, thanks for the response. I was afraid $33 for a reasonbly comprehensive manual was to good to be true. Regards.
