There are 2 separate and distinct model 316s. one was built in 1978 with a Kohler 16 HP single cylinder motor and the other came out in 1982 and was built until 1992 with the Onan twin. Very different tractors. That might explain the difference in manuals. If you want indepth info, you need the service manual that the shops used to repair and rebuild the tractors. Cost from Deere is gonna be around $100 +/-. That manual didn't come with the tractor, and had to be ordered.
