Todd - One simple thing to do; next time the tractor dies for "lack of spark", loosen the gas cap. Sometimes the vent in the cap actually becomes plugged, and the engine starves for fuel. If that does not resolve the issue, then you'll need to look at the coil, and/or points and condensor (depending on year). Post back your tractor's serial number, unless you know if you have a B43G Onan or a P-218G Onan. If you know which motor you have and can post that, it will help narrow things down a bit. I suspect though, that the coil may be the problem. - Dave
