Don't run a diesel out of fuel.We always filled our fuel filters with fuel before installation. Did you do that? The best i remember is that you then need to use the pump on the injector pump t prime it.I better quit because memory is fading.
Surely a real mechanic will post. I don't know what the screw you described does.
