: I own a 1990 John Deere STX38 Lawn Mower. It has been a great machine and has mowed where few dare to go. There seems to be a problem with the fuel getting to the carb now. The tractor will run for about 30-40 minutes, then it will die out on me and not start again for about 5 hours. Usually flat land all in all, and the tank is absolutly full. I have replaced the line fuel filter twice this summer and it is still doing this. There doesn't seem to be any constrictions in the line anywhere. If anyone has any answers to this mystery, please let me know.

I've had same problem 2-3 years ago, thought i had fuel line & tank clean , however one day I found 1" bit of junk in line just on tank side of shut off valve. No more trouble till this year & found same thing. A week later same thing happened again & found shut off valve dirty. Blow
out shut off valve into clean paper towel, you'll be suprised what you get! My stx has had a hard life & have fixed many items on it. 93-94 year but has 18-20 years wear! Your filter should be on up side of shut off also.HC mmbconrad@aol.com
