Need help on my John Deere

I have a 60 or 70 John Deere Lawn mower, the origional engine was junked. so i bought a 12 horse briggs. My problem is that the crankshaft is bigger than the one on the origional motor, therefore, the pulley won't work that was origionally on it. Anybody have any suggestions?
