In Reply to: LX277, 48 inch mower deck posted by Dan Ritchie on Sunday, November 09, 2003:
The top belt which runs from a pulley underneath the mower to another pulley situated on the back of the mower deck is 'released' by a lever on the outside right side of the mower deck (the unit with the blades underneath it) as your facing it from the front. Release the arm by pushing it to the opposite side ever so slightly and lifting slightly up on it. Then, push it to the rear of the deck. Its on a spring, so don't worry about pushing it. That will relieve the tension on the upper belt which actually drives the blades of the deck and I believe the power grass shute. When you have tension released, slip the belt on the front pulley and then put it on the back pulley. When you've done that, release the spring arm back to where it was and there you go- ALL FIXED.
