: I am thinking about buying a 455. Could anyone give me their thoughts on this mower? Also does the 60 inch deck mow as good as the 54 inch. I just wonder which deck to get.
i hope that i am not to late on this for you. i own a 455 lawn tractor(i hope thats what your talking about) it has a 60" deck. this tractor is very good in everyway but one. i have no problems with the deck and i mow feilds with it. however since the motor is turned backwards the radiator is in the middle of the mower and the discharge is in the same location. the grass clippings are sucked onto the side of the mower where the air goes into the fan. this cuts off the air supply to the fan causing the mower to run hot. you have to constantly wipe that area while mowing. you might want to look at a 445 mower. the only difference is the 455 is deisel and the 445 is gas. other then the air thing i really like the 455. good luck timothy
