If you have a good starter, battery and clean connections it is completely unnecessary, but if you insist:
If you have battery ignition, you need to get a resistor to step down the votage to the coil or get a 12volt coil. The starter will survive the 12 volts. Lights will have to be changed, if you have them.
The charging system is the biggest hurdle. You can get a 12 volt generator and regulator or you can get an internally regulated alternator. The Delco unit from an old Chevy will work.
The starting circuit should have a relay and momentary contact push button installed instead of using the "dimmer switch" style starter button.
There are details that I have left out, you need to understand how this stuff works in order to pull it off.
