COuldnt say for sure, I have never worked on one, but I would wager something wrong with the reverse gear(s), or possibly something in the shifter, linkages, shift rails etc. being worn. I guess it could also be something in the H/L shifter but I dont see how. Sorry, I dont know much about he "newer" Farmalls.
