Can you shift the four speed transmision also and feel the detents in each gear with out pushing in clutch pedal and have no grinding of gears. If you can your problem is ahead of transmission, clutch or shaft in TA. Like other poster said though, check all linkages. You could have four speed in a neutral position due to pin coming out of there also and you would have this problem but you would not feel the detents while moving lever.
