A case IH mechanic came and looked at it, and moved it a little. Which is what we were scared to do. It will barely move in reverse without banging and clanging something fierce. It will, however, move forward with only a random clank. The mechanic estimated it would cost 5 grand to fix. Parts wouldn't be too bad, but labor would be a killer. This will make a fun project someday! Maybe I could do some of the work, we'll see. I would love to be involved in the engine overhaul. Someday I hope to be listening to 70s music on a cold fall evening while moldboard plowing with this thing running and looking like new.
Thanks for your input!
