Have a 1975 IH 574 Diesel. Is there a easy way to know if my injector pump is bad or okay? If I start the tractor it will run at a low throttle position but die after running for a few moments above idle to PTO rpm. I then have to bleed the main fuel line by pressurizing the fuel tank. I replaced fuel filters and seal with them as part of trying to fix it and think maybe I should put new seals elsewhere in the fuel system. Can I rule out the pump if it isdrawing air into the line or could the line get air in it if the pump was bad?
