Pull the tach out where you can at the back, no need to disconnect wiring harness, pull the slip in module out the back, clean the contacts on it with an eraser on a lead pencil. This assumes you have original style dig tach and not the replacement version. If this doesn't help, pull the inline fuse out of the wire that is located in same area as other fuses and clean contacts, then pull rpm sensor at engine clutch housing and clean it up. You may be lucky and get it to work.
