To add, the later Super 'A's'/100 and Super 'C's had the 123ci engine and had a water pump, same engine just a bit larger, but not before 1953 or so.
My family had a 'C' with same engine as an 'A' and no water pump and it did fine for many years. I don't remember the bubbling but it probably did.
