The first of the British diesels were 144 cubic inch. That would be B-250, B-275, maybe 414, then somewhere in there IH increased them to 154 cubic inches. That doesn't necessarily mean they changed the block. Very likely same block with thinner sleeves, could be longer stroke. I know 434 and 444 were 154 cubic inches.

I am more familiar with US built IH tractors and with those they sometimes obtain 3 different displacements from one block. Example block number 354898 could be fitted with 3" bore sleeves, 3-1/8" and 3-1/4", and they used two different cranks coming up with 113, 123 and 135 cubic inches respectively Super A, Super C and 404.

In big tractors from the 70s and the 400 engines, they achived many different horsepowers in about 8 tractors. Most of that was done with different crank giving longer stroke, turbo chargers and injection pump settings.
