If it's a diesel, I would use a good quality API CF or better 15W-40.
That would work in a gas engine too though I prefer the API S rated oils for a gas engine and I would use a 10W30 API SJ or better.
I suppose if you are in a very warm climate, you may choose a single weight oil.
