Having a small issue with an old IH 3514 Backhoe/Loader.
I started my tractor in the morning, and it cranked and started perfectly. I ran it for about 20 minutes, and then turned it off to jump down and do a bit of work by hand.
When I got back in the seat about 5 minutes later, I turned the key on and pressed the starter... and got nothing! I can hear the fuel shutoff click on (it's a diesel), but the starter does absolutely nothing. No clicking of the solenoid/bendix, and the engine doesn't rotate in the slightest. The only sign that the button was pressed is the voltmeter dropping sharply.
My manuals for the tractor and engine don't seem to talk about the starter motor at all!
Any advice on how to get to the starter (I'm not even certain where it is positioned because the flywheel region of the motor/trans is quite shielded on this tractor).
Any other thoughts on what else may be wrong would also be appreciated.
Thanks!
