A friend has a 434 with a AD154 engine that has been a curse to cold start (will totally drain 2 or 3 batteries) from the day he bought it 30+ years ago, this has resulted in 6 engine rebuilds due to broken pistons. The glow plugs are getting power and test fine, fuel system seems fine and timed correctly.
Is there another engine that will bolt in that is much easier to start?
We were thinking of using a b275 engine.
