I have an old IH that I just found out is a 340. The original steering lines rotted out and I replaced them with rubber hoses. I have to use a great deal of force to steer the tractor and suspect that the hydro fluid is low. My tractor doesn't have a three-point, and the only hydraulic hoses/lines I can find are between the timing-operated pump and the steering column. I have searched all over and have no idea how to add oil to this system. Also, I am guessing that since the oil I saw leaking out of the old lines was red, I am assuming it it is ATF? Is this what is supposed to be there or will it hurt to put it there if it is not?
