Sam: It could be internal bypassing within the hydraulic cylinders. Leave the tractor parked with loader up at a measured height. If it doesn't stay up you know you have bypassing. If it takes all day to drop 4', I wouldn't be too concerned, however if you can visably see it dropping, you've got serious bypass problems
If the cylinders check out good, the next place I'd look for the problem is right in the pump. Very likely that is the problem anyhow.
