H.P.: It holds 5 quarts when equipped with PTO and belt pulley, 4 quarts without. I tend to go up to a quart over. There is a fill to level plug below front tip of left fender, hidden behind the left brake activation rod. If original that plug takes a 7/16" square drive. I keep a piece of 7/16" square key stock in my tool box for this purpose.
Some of the newer 140 manuals recomend hytran hydraulic oil. Presonally I'd stick with gear oil 90W. Nothing in the transmission changed from days of late SA, 100, 130 to 140. Light oils in that transmission tend to not slow gears enough, thus you get gear clash when shifting, plus it takes longer for gears to slow down if tractor has been idling in neutral.
