Hi, I've inherited a 706 which I hope to keep running but I don't know an awful lot about tractors. I've used it for a few road runs but when it was last out the brakes made some horrible graunchy noises and were very lack lustre in the stopping department and the pedals seemed to be pumping. Some one suggested checking the Hy Trans oil level which was a little shy of the dipstick. OOPS! Topped it up with the right oil which has stopped the pedal pump but the brakes are still almost useless. They slow it down if you press gently but when you want to stop, it takes a huge amount of pressure which eventually results in the graunchy noise. Any ideas??? It is also leaking from the pto shaft. I've got a seal for it and it looks as if I just have to unbolt the plate, ease it over the pto shaft and replace the seal.Is it that easy??
Any info greatly appreciated.
