Mr. Mackay, First let me thank you for taking the time to answer, you were right about the filter, it was not only collapsed but had a big hole in it and the oil looked terrible. there is sediment in the bottom of the housing but another post said it was better not to flush the system. can you recommend an oil to use, and is the next step to get a filter put oil in and see if the levers are now free? It had a row crop front end which has been changed to a wide one so I guessed it was a regular 300. I bought it from a man dumber than I am and it sat in his back yard several years without being started. I got it running in about 20 minutes but it had a bad miss as he had not tightened the rocker arm lock nut and lost a push rod. I have probably let it run about 1 hour because the alternator has not got here yet. I am not restoring it but want to use it. I am familiar with mechanics but not hydraulics. thanks again for your answer
