Brenda: You may have to change both seat and steering wheel before your happy. If the finish is off the steering wheel that black may never stop. You should be able to see differences in the finish on different parts of the steering wheel, if finish is bad.
Secondly my dad once bought a used truck, steering wheel looked good, every time we drove it our hands turned black. Dad mentioned it to a neighbor. Neighbor said, and he knew where the truck came from, "Bill (previous owner)is a mechanic as well as a truck driver, every time he had greasy hands, no cleaning them off, it's in the truck and drive. He's got 5 years of grease ground into that steering wheel. There may be products to restore the finish, but if it's grease you may as well buy a steering wheel.
It could be grease ground into both seat and steering wheel. If someone in the past drove the tractor with greasy hands very likely he had grease on the seat of his trousers as well. If that is the case you may as well buy both.
