Travis: Leon is correct, no mechanical linkage in that steering. Any I've run across, when they got as you describe, the steering unit under the dash had to be rebuilt.
Leon may well be correct on cleaning, it's truly amazing how much dirt some folks can get in a hydraulic system. Not suggesting Leon would do it, however he has enough tractors, he's very likely bought a few that were that dirty.
