Rod: Did you change the filter, or if it is a screen, clean it. If your 340 is equipped with pump driven from the timing gears at front of engine, it may be necessary to park it on a steep down grade, then loosen the lines at the pump until oil flows by graviety to that point.
Some 340 had the pump mounted in the torque tube and it was driven off the IPTO drive shaft. Either system is not going to flow to the pump with a cloged filter. Your flushing may have made that one worse. The filter should be behind that plate just forward from brake pedals, on the side of the torque tube.
