Mike: I should warn you, this may not work as well as you expect. Been there and done that. Not the valve part, I had an extra valve thus decided to use a hydraulic cylinder top link. That was 40 years ago and there may well be better products on the market today. I had to rework a cylinder, by installing ball ends. I achived one thing, I deatroyed a cylinder. It didn't stand up to the task, and would not stay exactly were one set it. The adjustment was also so fast it was hard to achive a specific setting.
If you could find a top link with screw adjustment and a hydraulic motor to operate the screw adjustment it may work. I think you will be quite disapointed in a cylinder. You are not the first to try this, not even in the 100, quite possibly not even the first 1,000, maybe even 10,000.
