: I recently finished puting togather a ford 3000 disel, it has the simms fuel injector pump on it, the pump is a re built.
My 1710 repair manual troubleshoots white exhaust as excess or improper engine oil or incorrect injector pump timing. Pump timing seems like a good place to start. A manual would give procedures for checking pump timing and spill time. Some pumps are sensitive to mounting alignment and mounting gasket thickness. If these things could have been disturbed, then installation procedures for a new pump should be followed. Hopefully, you are 100% certain that the pump timing marks are aligned.
Although white smoke is consistent with incorrect pump adjustments, I'm not certain the symptoms would disappear when the engine warms up. Fuel starvation is consistent with much of the description, but fuel starvation usually is associated with gray smoke. Air in the system is a possible cause of fuel starvation, and some diesels can clear small amounts of air after a period of operation. However, if this condition repeats every time the engine cold starts, a question is how does more air enter the fuel system? Some aspects of pump adjustment also can cause fuel starvation. If I was more expert in these things, I might be able to write a more definite response.
