I have a 641d with a loader). As I was using the bucket for a scaffel (had my neighbor in it installing a security lite on a post) the tractor motor (engine) just slowed down and stopped (As if it ran out of fuel) We must have been in this position for about twenty minutes at about 800 rpm; just sitting in one place waiting for the slow poke to mount the light. I then restarted the engine with no trouble and it ran just fine for about 3 or 4 minutes and then stopped again. As it stoped the 2nd. time I noticed heat vapors coming from the left front by the alternator- radiator area. (so I thought to my self ), it must have gotten hot. so I then put in about 2 quarts of water into the radiator, altho the radiator was not hot to the touch, as when an engine gets hot. I checked the oil and it was down maybe a half quart. I did smell an odor of hot at this time but not radiator hot more like electrical hot.
I have checked the starter and the alternator and the wire-ing and do not smell anything burnt nor can I see anything that would reflect the odor of electrical at the time this engine stopped.
I have taken off the hydraulic pump from the front of the crankshaft (thinking that it may have frozen up or something) and its ok and not the problem.

What is now happening is that, the engine no longer turns over like it has in the past, It seems to labor as if I have a bad battery or starter. it will not start. it will crank very slow for about 3 seconds and then seems to want to stop . I haven't ever had a problem with engine or starter. I feel like it is some engine component rather than starter or battery. There was no banging, scrapping, no loud sounds, no knocks it just slowed down and stoped and now it won't turn over fast enough to start. Could you, would you, give me some ideas?????? thanks Ron 210- 628-1154
