Jim, I have a 4610 but it is Series 2. Foot clutch is not required for engaging the PTO or disengaging it. Just make sure the RPM's are low when engaging. I have heard that this system isn't quite as fool proof as the old gear driven type, but it has worked pretty well for me. I'm pushing a 7' Rhino mower with mine.
