I've been having carb and ignition problems with my tractor going on 2 years. It is a positive ground system.

Last time I had the enging runing I checked the manifold for leaks but couldnt find anything. I have a fuel filter installed in the fuel line. and added dry gas to the fuel tank in case there was a moisture problem.

Last winter I replaced the spark plugs and coil breaker points etc. It ran trouble free until colder weather set in. Then it would start but only after a long period of cranking.

Now it won't start at all. The starter turns the engine and it seems its on the verge of starting but just won't fire. I tried spraying starter fluid in the carb but it still wouldn't fire.

I just had the carb rebuilt and installed and it didnt make a difference. I checked to see if there was spark at each of the plugs. Although there was spark it seemed weak.

Could a weak coil be causing the problem?

I am completely puzzled.

Any suggestions that will help me get this machine back in working order will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Jim McKinney
