I have several fords 1900,2100,2110 some have external hydraulics connected up in various ways. I also have other hydraulic issues re pump not picking up oil maybee due to leak in suction side of hydraulic pump, even after a brand new hydraulic pump was fitted I am still working on that problem.
However re your question if the hose was supplying a valve which in turn supplied the front bucket, the valve can be of 2 types I think, open centre or closed centre. My understanding is that with open centre type the oil passes straight through the valve when in neutral position and hence flows back to the original internal hydraulic system to operated the back lift etc. So when you operate the lever to lift the bucket the oil is interupted and sen t to the bucket, during this time there is no oil to the rear lift. So when you plugged the bucket system the oil cannot pass through to the internal system to supply oil to the lift. So the hose you put on is doing the same as an open centre valve in its neutral position ie oil just passes through
