Just purchased a sweet 1964 industrial 4000 and after 20 minutes of bush hogging last night I realized that the pump lost all of its power. The fluid is full and clean and I understand this is fairly common with older tractors, although this one only has 1500 hours. I am a little upset because the seller failed to mention this to me and only after the cash changed hands did I realize this. I have seen rebuild kits for this model, # CKPN600A, and was wondering if I can do this myself or is it absolutely MANDATORY that a ford mechanic rebuild it. I have priced these rebuilt for $600 and mine to be rebuilt for $300-400. PLEASE give me some good news and helpful advice.
